Pop up. Happen. Pop down.

We are very pleased to announce the beta launch of our latest online project, PopUpEvents.com.
The service has been developed to create a place where hard-working organisers of pop up events can share their news or forthcoming activities with relevant audiences that are always on the look out for finding something unsual happening in an unusual place.
Unfamiliar with the term ‘pop up event’?
Well, it’s a growing trend in marketing and entertainment; think of a brand that opens an (unusual for them) retail facility for a limited time, such as Marmite, or an old warehouse that becomes a cinema for a night or two every few months. Even Jamie Oliver rolling his Sainsbury’s truck into a supermarket car-park for a day to film an advert with passing members of the public is a pop-up event of some sort that many people would be annoyed to have missed out on if they heard it had happened in their area.
So you get the picture; something that ‘pops up’ for a short while and then is gone just as quickly as it arrived and had some cultural value or exclusivity that it leaves behind with the audience.
We’ve created a system of online spaces for pop-up event organisers to promote their activities by using ning, facebook and twitter, with a small introductory website sat above those as a signpost or quick welcome to what the service is about. The ning community (http://popupevents.ning.com) is the engine room of PopUpEvents.com; the place where browsers can search for actual events happening in their area and the place where organisers will post their details, keep blogs about their work, share photos etc.
The are no charges or costs involved for organisers joining the community and promoting their events; it’s a completely free service and we welcome your involvement whether you organise them or just like attending unusual events in unusual places.
Visit the Pop-Up Events website now and let us know what you think.
