Blog Rules
Thank you for taking the time to view the ‘house rules’ for Slices of Secret Pie.
This blog can only grow stronger if you choose to share your ideas, opinions and feedback so we’ve written a few pointers below to help you if you choose to comment on our articles and posts.
Your Comments
You can make a comment on any of the pages or posts on this blog. Just go to the ‘Share your thoughts, leave a comment’ section at the bottom of a post and leave your comment along with your name and email address. We promise that your email address will not be made visible next to the comment or shared anywhere else - it is just captured as part of the moderation process and allows us to contact you if there is a good opportunity for us to ‘get along’ off-blog.
You’re also asked to enter a web address. If you have a blog then you can put the web address in this section. If you don’t then you can put a link to any other social networks or websites you have, such as a Facebook or Twitter page. Just don’t try and link to an obvious bottom-scraping advert site please!
All comments on this blog are moderated, so you won’t see your contributions appear straight away. We moderate because this blog is a cherished part of our business, Secret Pie, and we want to make sure that no content creeps on that may offend anybody on personal grounds (such as appearance, sexuality, religion, race etc). We also want to make sure that none of the dregs of internet society make it on here too, so spammers and unimaginative snake oil salesmen will not get air-time here. Such comments will be nuked immediately, so please don’t bother putting fingers to keyboard if that’s your thang.
We use Akismet to help us stop spam comments being put in the moderation queue, and this tends to be pretty bulletproof.
Other General House Rules
- We’ll allow comments under a pseudonym (nick name), but do not allow impersonations. Please feel free to tell us who you are in your comments because it makes your opinions matter even more to us and others who read what you write.
- We will never block a comment just because it comes from a ‘rival’ or makes us look silly – the former gives us a chance to be cleverer and the latter shows we are human.
- We will never delete a post unless we are required to for legal reasons. We will also never knowingly publish anything which is inaccurate or misleading and will make any necessary changes as early as possible if we find ourselves in that situation. If we feel the urge to make minor changes to posts, such as grammar, spelling or layout, we’ll make them (and probably not ‘fess up).
- All the views expressed on this blog are the personal opinions of the Secret Pie authors that contribute, but you’ll find the corporate stance is not far off each time.
- When members of the Secret Pie team comment on other blogs or participate in any other social media, we will always be open and transparent about who we are – we hope that the same spirit is brought to this blog by all of our visitors who choose to comment and contribute.
- Wildly non-relevant or spam content is absolutely not allowed on this blog. Your comments will not see the light of day if you stray into these areas.
- If we refer to or use anyone else’s work in our posts then we will always respect the original creator by linking to their work and crediting all of the sources that we use.
We hope you appreciate that all of the above is there to encourage you to join in and to only restrict those that seek to use the internet as one big flea market or toilet wall! 99% of you can contribute safe in the knowledge that if you do then your words will appear shortly after (cetainly within 24 hours).
If you believe that we can improve our rules or if you think that we have broken them ourselves then we would love to hear from you – please use the contact form to drop us a line.
